My practice is a space where empathy and evidence-based care help individuals address and manage Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety related disorders through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other evidence based treatments.

Areas of Focus

  • A mental health condition consisting of obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions are unwanted or intrusive thoughts, images, or sensations that are distressing, can be accompanied by fear, doubt, and disgust.

    Compulsions are excessive or repetitive behaviors, both physical or mental, that is used to make distress go away. This relief is often short-term or just contains the distress.

  • Seemingly out-of-the blue panic attacks accompanied by the fear of the panic attacks recurring.

    Panic attacks consist of racing heart, sweating, trembling, sensations of shortness of breath, feeling of choking or difficulty breathing, chest pain or discomfort, nausea or stomach aches, feeling dizzy or lightheaded, numbness or tingling sensation, depersonalization or derealization, fear of dying or losing control

  • Excessive worry or fear of being judged, negatively evaluated, or rejected in a social or performance situation. This can often lead to avoidance of triggering situations.

  • Excessive fear tied to one specific area (flying, certain animals, needles, heights, driving, etc.)

  • Fear of vomiting that causes great distress and dysfunction in one’s life due to the level of avoidance and attempts to prevent/control.

  • Fear of having an unknown health concern leading to excessive bodily checking, over seeking or under seeking out doctors, and desire for certainty when it comes to health.

  • Disproportionate anxiety to everyday worries and stressors— difficulty tolerating and dealing with the unknown and uncertainty.

  • Persistent and intense focus, shame, disgust, and/or anxiety about perceived body defects often resulting in efforts to change or conceal the “targeted” body part, often going as far as to have cosmetic procedures done.

  • Tics are sudden, repetitive, involuntary movements or sounds. Tourette’s is a neurological disorder characterized by multiple motor tics and at least one vocal tic.

  • Hair pulling or skin picking that leads to pain, bleeding, infection, or scarring.

  • Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections (PANDAS) & Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) are conditions causing sudden and rapid severe neuropsychiatric symptoms like OCD, tics, anxiety, and mood changes, often triggered by infections causing immune confusion where the body attacks its own brain tissue.
